Frequently Asked Questions
The UBCP/ACTRA Awards recognize the outstanding talent and performances of our members in film, television, and new media. These awards are a celebration of excellence in our industry and a reflection of the incredible work done by our community each year.
No, there will not be a live or virtual awards show in 2025. Due to significant budget constraints, we’ve made the difficult decision to pause the show this year.
However, we are still committed to honouring the achievements of our members. Winners will be celebrated in other meaningful ways (to be announced), and we look forward to bringing the show back in 2026.
Winners will be publicly announced in November 2025 through our various official channels.
We are facing increased budgetary pressures, and after careful consideration, we made the decision to prioritize adjudication and member recognition over the production of a show. This ensures the awards can continue in some form while we work toward restoring the full event next year.
We fully intend to return with a live or virtual show in 2026. Planning is already underway to ensure this is feasible.
Stage 1 – Nominee selection – We select the first group of jurors from our membership and they are designated a performance category. They then watch all of the nomination clips submitted for that category and score them individually. Our accounting firm receives the scores and tabulates the results, creating our list of nominees!
Stage 2 – Winner selection – We select a second group of members who are designated a performance category to watch, and this time they have to watch the full production and score the performance overall. These results are then sent to our accounting firm who tabulates the results. The results are kept strictly confidential until the night of the awards.
The UBCP/ACTRA Awards are peer adjudicated. This means all submissions are reviewed by panels made up of Full Members of UBCP/ACTRA who work professionally in the industry. The process ensures that recognition comes from fellow performers who understand the craft and context of the work being judged.
We are currently in the adjudication phase, where juries are reviewing all eligible submissions. This phase will continue until mid-September 2025.
Nominees will be contacted directly in early October 2025 and shared publicly shortly after.
Winners will be notified and publicly announced in November 2025.
We’re working on alternative ways to highlight and honour this year’s nominees and winners. Details will be shared as they are finalized.
